The “Purpose for Life” is rooted deeply in God’s sovereignty, glory, and grace.
🌳 1. Created for God’s Glory
Reformed teaching, drawing from Isaiah 43:7 “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”and the Westminster Shorter Catechism,
emphasizes that:
“Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever”
This means the purpose of every human life is to:
Reflect God’s glory
Worship Him
Delight in Him and His ways
🕊️ 2. Redeemed by Grace
Through the lens of Ephesians 2:8–10, 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
our purpose is:
Not self-determined, but granted by grace
To walk in “good works, which God prepared beforehand”
To live as new creations 2 Corinthians 5:17, growing in obedience and love
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come
👑 3. Centered on Christ
Jesus Is central: Romans 11:36 “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”
Our purpose is fulfilled in union with Him John 15
We live to bear fruit that reflects Christ
We point others to His glory and lordship
⛪️ 4. In Service to God and Others
Flowing from a changed heart:
We seek to build up the Church Ephesians 4
We seek the good of others and the glory of God in every sphere of life — family, work, society
🗺️ 5. Part of God’s Sovereign Plan
Each person’s life:
Is designed intentionally by God Psalm 139
Plays a role in His larger redemptive purpose
Will be used to further His kingdom and display His glory
